What if you’re actually more successful than you think you are?
You’re showing up. You’re putting in the work. You’re posting on social media, building your business, working toward your goals, and doing everything you think you’re supposed to do.
But the results aren’t happening as quickly as you’d hoped.
Sound familiar?
Whether you’re building a coaching business, working toward a health goal, or pursuing something completely new, it’s easy to start questioning yourself when progress doesn’t look the way you expected.
Am I doing enough? Am I doing something wrong? Why does everyone else seem to be further ahead?
But here’s something worth considering:
What if the problem isn’t that you’re not succeeding, but that you’re measuring success the wrong way?
In this special episode of FIT CHICKS Chat, Amanda Quinn is joined by three FIT CHICKS Academy graduates — Sonia Morris, Kristy Hardiman, and Amber Bellomo — for a roundtable conversation about the mindset and attitude of success.
Together, they explore the challenges of staying motivated, overcoming fear, navigating comparison, and recognizing the progress we often overlook.
Here are some of the biggest takeaways from the conversation.
1. Success Doesn’t Have One Definition
When we think about success, it’s easy to immediately think about numbers.
How much money are we making? How many clients do we have? How quickly is our business growing?
But success is so much more personal than that.
During the roundtable, each guest shared how her definition of success has evolved.
For Sonia, success has become less about collecting credentials and more about personal growth, resilience, and the impact she makes within her community.
For Kristy, it’s about the women she helps and the difference she makes in their lives, even if she isn’t working with hundreds of clients.
And for Amber, success is about making meaningful progress toward something worthwhile, especially when that progress positively impacts someone else’s health.
The takeaway: You get to decide what success looks like for you. And that definition can change as you grow.
2. Doing Everything Isn’t Always the Answer
One of the most relatable moments in the conversation came when Amber shared how overwhelmed she felt trying to market her coaching business.
She was posting on social media, growing an email list, putting up flyers, and trying to be everywhere at once.
But instead of feeling successful, she was burning herself out.
Her solution?
Simplify.
Rather than trying to show up on every platform and do every marketing activity, she began focusing on the things that mattered most.
This sparked an important conversation about business growth.
You don’t have to be on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and every other platform to build a successful coaching business.
You need to find the strategies that align with your goals, your audience, and your capacity.
The takeaway: More activity doesn’t automatically mean more progress. Sometimes simplifying your approach allows you to move forward more effectively.
3. A Positive Mindset Matters, But So Does Action
We hear it all the time.
Stay positive. Believe in yourself. Keep going.
And while maintaining a positive attitude can make a huge difference, positivity alone doesn’t create results.
During the conversation, Amanda raised an important distinction: staying optimistic is valuable, but you also need to make sure you’re taking the right actions and have the right strategies in place.
Sometimes the answer isn’t to push harder.
Sometimes it’s to pause, reassess, and adjust your approach.
Sonia also shared the importance of accepting that not every day will feel positive or productive.
Building something meaningful comes with challenges, and giving yourself permission to navigate those moments is part of the process.
The takeaway: You can believe in your goals while still being willing to change how you achieve them.
4. Stop Comparing Your Chapter One to Someone Else’s Chapter Eighteen
Comparison is one of the fastest ways to lose sight of your own progress.
You see someone with thousands of followers, a thriving business, or a seemingly effortless path to success, and suddenly your own accomplishments don’t feel like enough.
Amber shared how she sometimes compares her social media results to other health coaches with much larger audiences.
But she also recognizes something important.
They have different lives, different responsibilities, different priorities, and different goals.
What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another.
Amanda also shared how easy it is for newer entrepreneurs to compare their early business journey to FIT CHICKS Academy, which has been growing since 2008.
But those are completely different stages of business.
The takeaway: You can admire someone else’s success without making their journey the standard for your own.
5. Confidence Often Comes After You Take Action
How many times have you told yourself:
I’ll start when I’m more confident.
I’ll put myself out there when I’m ready.
I’ll try something new when I feel more prepared.
But what if confidence isn’t something you need before getting started?
What if it’s something you build along the way?
Kristy shared that confidence wasn’t something she naturally had when she started her business.
It developed through taking action, speaking about her services, showing up, and gaining experience.
And even after years of coaching, there are still moments when that confidence fluctuates.
Sonia also shared how overcoming her fear of learning to drive opened up opportunities she previously couldn’t pursue.
The takeaway: You don’t need to eliminate fear or uncertainty before moving forward. Every action you take can help build the confidence you need for the next one.
6. Don’t Forget to Celebrate the Wins You Can’t Measure
One of the most important parts of the conversation focused on how easily we overlook our own accomplishments.
We achieve something we’ve been working toward, celebrate for a moment, and immediately start thinking about the next goal.
But what about the things that don’t show up on a spreadsheet?
The client who tells you that you’ve changed her life.
The woman who feels more confident because of your support.
The person who makes a healthier choice because of something you shared.
Those moments matter.
Kristy shared that she keeps messages and emails from clients so she can revisit them when she needs a reminder of the impact she’s making.
Amber also reflected on the importance of recognizing the people she’s helped, even when those interactions haven’t resulted in a paying client.
The takeaway: Not every meaningful achievement comes with a number attached to it.
7. Reconnect With Your Why
Toward the end of the conversation, each guest shared one practice that helps her continue moving toward her goals.
Sonia uses reflection and journaling to reassess and reconnect with her purpose.
Kristy regularly reflects on why she started her business and the women she wants to help.
Amber makes time for prayer and meditation as a way to stay grounded and connected to her path.
Different practices, but a similar theme.
When things feel overwhelming, returning to your purpose can help you find clarity.
The takeaway: Sometimes moving forward starts with remembering why you began.
So, What Does Success Look Like for You?
Here’s something we want you to think about.
If you stopped measuring your progress against everyone else’s achievements, what would success actually look like?
Would it be more freedom? Greater confidence? Helping more people? Creating balance? Having the courage to pursue something meaningful?
Your answer doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.
And sometimes the biggest progress you’re making isn’t something you can measure in dollars, followers, or milestones.
It’s the confidence you’re building, the decisions you’re making, and the person you’re becoming.
