“I’m Lori. I live in Hay River, NT. I’m originally from Newfoundland. I’m a nurse. I have two teenagers and a wonderful husband. I’m also a Beachbody coach. I graduated from the Holistic Nutrition Weight Loss Coach program in 2020. I loved this course. I’m excited to start using what I have learned in my coaching business. I have also done the FNE program.
I was looking to get certified in nutrition & health coaching with a speciality in weight loss because I wanted to learn more about nutrition for myself and also to bring more knowledge to help my clients.
I chose Fit Chicks Academy because they are Canadian and plus the reviews from their graduates were amazing.
My favourite part was learning about digestion and blood sugar management. I also loved making my own sauerkraut.
If you are thinking about taking the HWLC program: Take it. You will learn a lot. The instructors are amazing and bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the course.
Thank you to Laura, Amanda, and the rest of the instructors.”
Vanilla Pear Weight Loss Green Smoothie
Smoothies are such an easy and delicious way to get your nutrients in and to help you to lose weight. Smoothies are packed with protein, veggies, and healthy fats to help keep you full. It’s a great way to get your veggies in if you are someone who is not a veggie lover. Choosing foods with a low glycemic number will help maintain a balanced blood sugar level.
I made a Vanilla Pear Smoothie. This smoothie has many benefits without the added sugar that can increase blood sugar levels as well as calories. This smoothie contains ginger which helps to lower blood sugar and aids in digestion. It contains greens which are a good source of vitamins and iron. I chose spinach because I like spinach. But you can choose any type of greens such as kale, collard greens, beet greens, etc. My healthy fat I chose avocado. It is a good source of healthy fat but it also makes your smoothie creamy. I love smoothies that are creamy. For my protein I have my own personal protein powder that I love but you can chose whatever you like. Make sure that it is ideally unsweetened and few ingredients as possible.
Smoothies are such an easy and nutritious way to get in your veggies and all the good vitamins and minerals that your body needs to be healthy. Great for kids too who are picky eaters and don’t like to eat their “broccoli”.

Find a couple of smoothie recipes that you like and alternate them throughout the week for a variety. Adding variety will help you to stick with drinking smoothies everyday.
Swapping out ingredients like almond milk for coconut milk, and kale for spinach will help change up the flavour without having to find new recipes. Also, adding spices too can add extra flavour.
Make it fun. Create a challenge with a friend and be each others support.
