“When you dance, you can enjoy the luxury of being you.” -Paulo Coelho

Being chicks who are forever curious about fitness, nutrition and wellness, the chances are if you asked us we have tried every fitness class, style, nutrition habit and newest breathing technique out there.

When I was younger I decided to find my inner dancer and joined a belly dancing class. Partially because I was curious about this type of movement, partially because I wanted to learn to love my body even more and partially because it sounded super cool, unique and fun.

What bellydancing did for me at that time was exactly all of that. It literally helped me to see that I could love my body at any stage and that fitness could be fun, empowering and didn’t have to happen in the gym.

Today we are chatting with Jennifer Sobel, belly dancing expert and creator of the belly dance solution.

We are chatting all about misconceptions, how belly dancing is portrayed in the media and if that is accurate, the sexualization of belly dancing but more importantly the empowerment that belly dancing can bring to your own inner goddess.

She also shares tips of getting started, what she suggests everyone has for their first class and what to look for in a teacher or studio program.

We are so excited to share this episode with you and her expertise.

Jennifer has been a professional belly dancer for over 14 years, teaching and performing both in the US and internationally. It is her vision and mission to make belly dancing fun and easy to learn as well as help women use belly dance as a powerful healing movement for body, mind and spirit. Jennifer integrates her background and experience as a licensed acupuncturist and a personal trainer into her belly dance programs to create a dynamic and holistic approach to achieving wellness and fitness. Jennifer believes that belly dance is more than just a dance, it is a powerful form of healing movement that helps women get grounded, centered and experience their most fundamental feminine energy and power.
